Meyer Davis design Bowery Meat Company in NYC’s East Village

An elegant homage to the classic steakhouse.

Though the Lower East Side of Manhattan is a relatively new culinary destination, the latest project from John McDonald and Josh Capon was conceived to look like it’s been around for decades. Designed by studio Meyer Davis, every corner and surface is repurposed vintage, from the light fittings to the butcher block tables in the banquette area of the main dining room. Channeling the famous New York steak house – while omitting the usual strip steak and macaroni cheese – Bowery Meat Company contrasts a moody, gentlemen’s club atmosphere with the sophistication of elegant design and a clever menu.
